How to Create Scorecard Comparisons for Multiple Date Ranges in Looker Studio:

  1. Duplicate your scorecard

  2. Select a different comparison date range

  3. Navigate to STYLE (right-hand-side menu)

  4. Change the Label color to white ➡️It will make the font for the scorecard turn white, aside from the comparison.

  5. Place the duplicate scorecard under the original scorecard and align them

📝 If you see the white letter from the duplicate scorecard overlap with the original scorecard, you can right-click and send the duplicate scorecard backwards. Now you'll have a seemingly single scorecard with 2 separate scorecard comparisons!

(Optional) you can add some text to label your date comparisons!

Frequently Asked Questions on Date Range Scorecard Comparisons in Looker Studio:

What is a date range comparison in Looker Studio scorecards?

Date range comparisons in scorecards allow you to compare metrics between two time periods - for example, comparing this month's performance to last month or the same month last year. This helps track growth, identify trends, and measure progress over time.

How do I add a date range comparison to my scorecard?

To add a date range comparison:

  1. Select your scorecard

  2. In the Data panel, find "Date Range Comparison"

  3. Click to enable it

  4. Choose your comparison type (e.g., Previous period, Previous year)

  5. The scorecard will now show the comparison as a percentage change

What comparison types are available for date ranges?

Looker Studio offers several comparison options:

  1. Previous period (e.g., last month vs. this month)

  2. Previous year (same period last year)

  3. Custom (select specific date ranges to compare)

  4. Year to date

  5. None (removes comparison)

Can I customize how the comparison appears?

Yes, you can customize the comparison display by:

  1. Choosing to show absolute change or percentage change

  2. Selecting the comparison text color and style

  3. Adding comparison prefix/suffix text

  4. Showing/hiding up/down arrows

  5. Adjusting decimal places shown

For partial date ranges (e.g., mid-month), Looker Studio automatically adjusts the comparison period to match the same number of days. This ensures you're comparing equivalent time periods for accurate analysis.
