Top 72 Startup Accelerators & Incubators in Singapore

Running a business is no simple task and there’s a lot more to learn besides just how to move products. Managing your finances, employees, and logistics can be overwhelming.

If you haven’t yet, you should consider joining a startup incubator or accelerator. Incubators and accelerators are designed to help young businesses smooth out their starts and hasten their development.

Topics Covered:

Joining an incubator or accelerator greatly increases your chances of running a successful business. Startups that have successfully taken advantage of accelerator programs include such big names like Grab, Lazada, and MyRepublic.

Some programs are free, usually run by non-profits or government institutions, but others might require you to pay or claim equity in your company in exchange for their services. Be aware of these costs.

You’ll find a comprehensive list of all incubator and accelerator programs in Singapore below, along with a short overview of how they run so you can decide which ones are most applicable to you. The accelerators in this list have been subdivided into applicability for startups in their ‘launch’ or ‘growth’ stages.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A STARTUP INCUBATOR AND AN ACCELERATOR?

An incubator helps you build your startup, meaning they’re focused primarily on education and inspiration. Most startups that engage with incubators are young and looking to round out their ideas, educate themselves on business best practices. Some might have launched and are still looking to firm up the foundation of their business.

Regardless of where you find yourself in that process, an incubator will help you lay the right foundation to start your business. Depending on the incubator you engage with, they provide a variety of services that may include:

  • Networking opportunities or platforms

  • Office/working spaces

  • Mentorship

  • Educational programs

  • Investment/funding opportunities

  • Access to industry-specific tools or equipment

Incubators are generally open-ended, and their key purpose is to help you build the groundwork for your business, whether that means fleshing out your ideas, finding collaborative partners or mentorship or seeking funding. An accelerator, however, is geared towards businesses that have already been established to some degree - your groundwork has been laid, you’ve launched or will soon launch your business, and you’re looking to grow your business. Accelerators focus on scalability, looking to rapidly increase your customer acquisition on the assumption that you already have proof of concept. They’re focused, compact programs where you’ll work with a mentor and a group of peers to educate yourself on best business practices through learning-by-doing. They’ll teach you skills to help your business adapt to change, show you common pitfalls to avoid, and are packed with information that could take you years to figure out on your own. Accelerators are active, short-term learning experiences that culminate in a ‘graduation’. There are specific skillsets and habits they aim to teach and instil by the end of the program.

P/S: We found these gems that we love even though they’re neither incubators nor accelerators:

Primarily a coworking space for tech-invested individuals, HackerspaceSG prides themselves on the community they’ve developed. They provide access to unique technology (like 3D printers), networking opportunities, workshops, and encourage collaboration.

OMG is a little hard to describe, but they basically provide a well-rounded variety of product development and design services. They offer prototyping and consulting services, access to a makerspace, events, and can even help you customize your personal makerspace.
