How to Follow Along

Use these steps alongside the video to get your campaign live faster.

1

Gather your business details

  • Write down your industry, products or services, target audience, and geographic locations.
  • Set a clear monthly budget and primary campaign goal (leads, sales, or traffic).
  • Identify your top 3–5 competitors for later use in campaign planning.
2

Open the Google Ads Campaign Setup Skill

  • Open Claude and navigate to the Google Ads Campaign Setup Skill in your XYZ Lab account.
  • Paste your business details into the prompt exactly as shown in the video.
  • Include your budget, goals, and audience to get the most accurate output.
3

Review the AI output

  • Read through the generated campaign structure — campaigns, ad groups, and keywords.
  • Check that budget splits and bid strategy recommendations match your goals.
  • Adjust any headlines or descriptions that don't match your brand voice.
4

Build the campaign in Google Ads

  • Log into your Google Ads account and create a new campaign for each type (Brand, Generic, Competitor).
  • Copy in the keyword lists from the AI output, organised by match type.
  • Paste in the ad headlines and descriptions, then add your sitelink extensions.
5

Set bid strategy and launch

  • Apply the recommended bid strategy — usually Maximise Conversions to start, then shift to Target CPA once you have enough data.
  • Set up conversion tracking before publishing (Google Ads won't optimise without it).
  • Enable the campaigns and monitor for the first 48–72 hours.

Common Issues

Troubleshooting Google Ads Setup

The most frequent problems people run into — and how to fix them.

1My campaigns aren't getting impressions after launch

Check that your campaigns are enabled and not paused. Then confirm your keywords aren't too restrictive — if you're using exact match only, try adding phrase match keywords. Also check that your location targeting matches where your audience actually is, and ensure your daily budget is at least 3–5x your target CPC.

2Google Ads keeps disapproving my ads

Most disapprovals come from policy violations in ad copy — check for excessive capitalisation, misleading claims, or missing required landing page information. If you're advertising a regulated industry (finance, health, legal), you may need to complete additional verification steps before your ads can run.

3Conversion tracking isn't recording any conversions

Use Google Tag Assistant to verify the conversion tag fires on your thank-you or confirmation page. Common issues include the tag placed on the wrong page, GTM not publishing after the tag was added, or the conversion action set to "Every click" instead of "One per click" which can inflate numbers.

4My CPC is much higher than expected

High CPC usually means low Quality Score. Check your ad relevance and landing page experience scores in the Keywords tab. Ensure the keyword, ad headline, and landing page all share the same core message. Pause low-performing keywords and consolidate your budget into tighter, higher-intent ad groups.

5The AI output doesn't match my industry or business type

This usually means the input prompt needs more specificity. Try adding your exact product names, target customer profile, and specific USPs rather than just the industry name. The more context you give the AI, the more tailored and accurate the campaign structure will be. Refer to step 1 above for what to include.
