  • Find the Open to Work card near the top of your profile and click the pencil (edit) icon

What is the Open to Work badge on LinkedIn?

Open to Work is a LinkedIn feature that signals you're looking for new roles. When you enable the public version, LinkedIn adds a green #OpenToWork frame around your profile photo so recruiters and your network can see you're available.

How do I remove the green #OpenToWork photo frame?

On your profile, click the edit pencil next to the Open to Work card, scroll to the bottom of the settings, and click Delete. The badge and the green photo frame are removed immediately.

Will recruiters still know I'm open after I remove the badge?

Only if you keep the private version enabled. LinkedIn offers two modes: the public green badge that everyone sees, and a private setting that shares your status only with recruiters using LinkedIn Recruiter. Deleting the Open to Work preference turns off both — so if you only want to hide the green frame, choose the recruiters-only visibility instead of deleting.

Can I hide the badge without telling my current employer?

Yes. Switching Open to Work visibility to "Recruiters only" keeps the green public badge off your photo, so colleagues and your employer won't see it, while recruiters can still find you. LinkedIn also takes steps to avoid showing your status to people at your current company, though it can't guarantee it.

Does removing the badge delete my job preferences?

Clicking Delete removes the Open to Work status and its visibility setting. Your saved job titles, locations, and other preferences may be cleared, so you'll want to re-enter them if you turn Open to Work back on later.

Can I turn Open to Work back on after removing it?

Absolutely. Just open the Open to Work option on your profile again, set your preferences, and choose whether to show the public badge or share with recruiters only. You can toggle it on and off as often as you like.
