Common questions about embedding custom code in WIX Studio.
The Embed Code element accepts any HTML, CSS, or JavaScript snippet. Common uses include embedding third-party widgets (chat bots, booking tools, forms), tracking scripts, iframes, social media embeds, and custom UI components that aren't available natively in Wix.
The Embed Code element places code on a specific page and renders it in a defined location on the canvas — ideal for widgets, iframes, and visible components. Adding code to the site header (via Settings → Custom Code) injects a script across every page and runs globally — better for analytics tags, conversion pixels, and tracking scripts that need to fire on every page load.
Yes. The Embed Code element is placed per-page, so your code only runs on the page where you add it. This is useful when you want to show a specific widget — like a pricing calculator or booking form — only on certain pages without affecting the rest of your site.
The most common reasons are: the code relies on an external resource that's blocked (check browser console errors), the Embed Code element is hidden behind another element on the canvas, or the snippet requires the page to be on HTTPS (all Wix sites are). Also confirm you've clicked Publish after adding the code — preview mode sometimes doesn't execute third-party scripts.
Yes. Once the Embed Code element is on the canvas you can drag it anywhere on the page and resize it like any other Wix element. The embedded content will render within the bounds of the element — so make sure the element is large enough to display your widget or iframe correctly.
The Embed Code element is available on paid Wix plans. Free Wix sites do not support custom code embedding. If you don't see the Embed & Social option or the element is greyed out, you'll need to upgrade your Wix plan to unlock custom code features.
