Common questions about Google Ads Manager Accounts (MCC).
A Manager Account (formerly called My Client Center, or MCC) is a Google Ads account that lets you manage multiple individual Google Ads accounts from a single login. It is the standard account type used by agencies, freelancers, and businesses that run ads across multiple brands or clients. A Manager Account does not run ads itself — it simply acts as a hub to access and manage the accounts linked beneath it.
Not necessarily — a single-account advertiser can manage everything directly from a standard Google Ads account. However, a Manager Account is useful even with one account if you want to use Google Ads Editor with multiple accounts, access cross-account reporting, or plan to manage additional accounts in the future. Agencies almost always use an MCC.
Yes. Creating a Manager Account is completely free. You only pay for ad spend within the individual Google Ads accounts linked to your MCC — the MCC itself has no cost. There is also no minimum spend or account requirement to open one.
A standard Google Ads account is where campaigns, ads, and billing live — it is the account that actually spends money. A Manager Account sits above one or more standard accounts and provides a centralised view for reporting, bulk edits, and access management. You cannot create campaigns directly inside an MCC; campaigns must be in a linked standard account.
From your Manager Account dashboard, click + Add account and select Link existing account. Enter the 10-digit Customer ID of the account you want to link. The account owner will receive a link request — once they accept it in their Google Ads account settings, the account will appear under your MCC. You can also create a brand-new Google Ads account directly from the MCC without a separate sign-up flow.
Yes — a client can grant you access directly via Access and security in their Google Ads account settings without using an MCC. However, this is less scalable: you would need a separate login for each client account. A Manager Account is the preferred approach for agencies because it consolidates access, billing, and reporting across all client accounts in one place.
