Common questions about AI Generated Sitelinks and automated assets in Google Ads.
AI Generated Sitelinks are automatically created sitelink extensions that Google's AI adds to your ads without your input. Google crawls your website, identifies pages it considers relevant, and appends them as sitelinks to boost click-through rates. While this can help in some cases, the AI-generated links may not match your messaging, brand guidelines, or campaign goals — making it important to review and potentially disable them.
There are several reasons to disable them: the AI may link to pages that are irrelevant to your campaign, the sitelink text may not match your brand voice or messaging, automated sitelinks can appear alongside your manually created ones and dilute your curated links, or you may simply want full control over what appears in your ads. Disabling ensures only your approved sitelinks show.
No. Disabling AI Generated Sitelinks only stops Google from automatically creating and serving new automated sitelinks. Any sitelinks you have manually created at the account, campaign, or ad group level will continue to serve as normal. This setting only affects the AI-generated automated assets, not your own.
The setting is found under Account-level automated assets, which means it applies to the entire account. There is no campaign-level toggle specifically for AI Generated Sitelinks. If you want to control sitelinks at the campaign level, the recommended approach is to disable them at the account level and then manually create the sitelinks you want on specific campaigns.
In the same Account-level automated assets → Advanced settings area, you can also disable other automated asset types such as AI Generated Images, Longer Ad Headlines, Seller Ratings, and more. Each asset type has its own toggle so you can selectively turn off only the automated formats you don't want while keeping others active. Review each option to decide what fits your brand's needs.
Go to Assets in the left-hand menu, then filter the assets table by type — automated sitelinks will be labelled as Automatically created or show an AI/auto badge. You can review the URLs and text Google has generated, and from the same More → Account-level automated assets menu you can see a preview of current automated assets before deciding whether to disable them.
