Common questions about adding users and managing access in Wix.
A collaborator is someone who has access to your Wix dashboard to help manage or edit your site — like a designer, developer, or agency. A site member is a visitor who has registered on your live website (e.g. to access a members-only area). Collaborators are added via Roles & Permissions; site members sign up through your front-end.
The number of collaborators you can invite depends on your Wix plan. Free and lower-tier plans allow a limited number of collaborators, while Business and higher plans allow more. Check your current plan in Wix's billing settings to see your collaborator limit. You can always upgrade if you need to add more team members.
Wix provides several built-in roles: Co-Owner (full access except billing), Admin (manage site and team), Back Office Manager, Content Manager, Designer, and SEO Manager. Each role has a preset combination of permissions. If none of these fit, you can create a custom role and choose exactly which dashboard areas that collaborator can access.
Yes. Use the Create custom role option in Roles & Permissions to build a role with a tailored set of permissions. You can allow or restrict access to specific areas such as the editor, blog, store, bookings, analytics, and more. This is useful when you want to give an agency access to marketing tools without exposing billing or full admin settings.
Yes. The collaborator will receive an email invitation with a link to accept access. If they don't already have a Wix account, they'll need to create one using the email address you invited. Once they accept, they'll appear in your Roles & Permissions list and can log in to access your site's dashboard based on their assigned role.
Go to Settings → Roles & Permissions and find the collaborator in the list. Click the three-dot menu next to their name and select Remove. They will immediately lose access to your Wix dashboard. It's good practice to remove collaborators as soon as they no longer need access — especially for agencies or freelancers who have finished their work.
