Common questions about the Meta Business Portfolio ID and Business Manager ID.
The Meta Business Portfolio ID (formerly called Business Manager ID) is a unique numeric identifier assigned to your Meta Business account. It represents the top-level business entity that contains your ad accounts, pages, pixels, and other assets. You need this ID when connecting third-party tools, setting up API integrations, granting partner access, or contacting Meta support about your account.
The Business Portfolio ID identifies your overall Business Manager account — the top-level container for all your assets. The Ad Account ID (which starts with act_) identifies a specific ad account within that Business Manager. A single Business Manager can contain multiple ad accounts. When integrating with APIs or tools, you may need both IDs — the Business ID for account-level access and the Ad Account ID for campaign-level access.
Besides the Business Info page in Business Settings, your Business Manager ID also appears in the URL when you are logged into Business Manager — look for the numeric ID in the browser address bar (e.g. business.facebook.com/<your-business-id>/). It is also displayed when you hover over your Business Manager name in the account switcher at the top of the screen.
Common use cases include: granting a partner agency access to your assets, setting up Meta API or Conversions API integrations that require your Business ID, connecting third-party tools such as CRMs or analytics platforms, and providing it to Meta support when raising a case. Some platforms (e.g. Shopify, WooCommerce) also ask for this ID during the Meta channel setup process.
Yes. A single personal Facebook account can be associated with multiple Business Managers. However, Meta limits the number of Business Managers you can create (typically 2 per personal account). If you manage clients, best practice is to have one Business Manager per client or to use a single agency Business Manager and request access to client Business Managers rather than creating new ones. Each Business Manager has its own unique Portfolio ID.
There is no functional difference — Business Portfolio is simply the new name Meta has given to what was previously called Business Manager. Meta renamed it to better reflect that it is a portfolio of business assets (ad accounts, pages, pixels, etc.) rather than just a management interface. The underlying ID and functionality remain the same; only the terminology has changed in Meta's interface and documentation.
