Common questions about updating payment methods in Meta Ads.
Billing & Payments is accessible from the left-hand navigation menu in Meta Ads Manager. If you don't see it, click the menu icon (hamburger) at the top left to expand the sidebar, then scroll down to find the Billing section.
Yes. You can add multiple credit or debit cards to a single ad account. Meta will charge your primary payment method first. If the primary method fails, Meta will attempt to charge your backup payment method so your campaigns keep running without interruption.
Meta Ads accepts credit cards and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal (in supported countries), and in some regions direct debit or local payment methods. Available options vary by country — you'll only see the payment types supported in your billing country when you go to add a new method.
If your primary payment method fails and there is no backup, Meta will pause your campaigns and your ads will stop running. You'll receive an email notification. To resume delivery, add a valid payment method and settle any outstanding balance. Campaigns will restart once the payment is processed.
Yes. Payment methods are managed at the ad account level, not at the Business Manager level. If you manage multiple ad accounts, each account has its own billing section and its own set of payment methods. The tutorial above shows how to select the correct ad account under "Ad Accounts" before adding or updating the card.
Go to Billing & Payments > Payment Methods, select the ad account, and click on the payment method you want to remove. You'll see an option to delete it. Note that you cannot remove your only payment method if you have an active or paused campaign — add a replacement card first, then delete the old one.
