FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about giving users access to LinkedIn Campaign Manager.

What is the difference between Business Manager access and Paid Media Admin access?

LinkedIn Business Manager is the central hub for managing ad accounts, people, and assets across your organisation. Inviting someone through Business Manager gives them access to your Campaign Manager ad account directly. Paid Media Admin is a role set at the LinkedIn Page level — it allows the person to create Sponsored Content and boosted posts that are associated with your Page, which is a slightly different permission model focused on page-linked campaigns.

Can I add an agency or freelancer to LinkedIn Campaign Manager?

Yes. To give an external agency or freelancer access, invite them via LinkedIn Business Manager using their email address. Assign them the appropriate role — typically Campaign Manager for full ad management access. They will receive an email invite and must accept to gain access. If you don't have Business Manager set up, you can alternatively add them as a Paid Media Admin through your LinkedIn Page settings, though this grants a more limited scope of access.

What roles are available in LinkedIn Campaign Manager?

LinkedIn Campaign Manager offers several access roles: Account Manager (full access to create, edit, and manage campaigns), Campaign Manager (can manage campaigns but has limited account settings access), Creative Manager (can manage creatives only), Viewer (read-only access to reporting), and Billing Admin (manages payment methods and billing). Choose the role that matches the level of access your collaborator needs.

Does the person I invite need a LinkedIn account?

Yes. To access LinkedIn Campaign Manager, the invited person must have an active LinkedIn personal profile. For Business Manager invitations, LinkedIn will send an email to the address you enter — if the person does not yet have a LinkedIn account, they will be prompted to create one before accepting the invitation.

How do I remove a user from LinkedIn Campaign Manager?

To remove a user via Business Manager, go to business.linkedin.com/marketing-solutions/business-manager, navigate to People, find the user and select Remove. To remove a Paid Media Admin via your LinkedIn Page, go to Page Settings › Manage Admins › Paid media admins and remove them from the list. Always revoke access promptly when an agency relationship ends.

Why can't I find the person when adding a Paid Media Admin?

To add someone as a Paid Media Admin through your LinkedIn Page, the person must be a 1st-degree connection on LinkedIn — you need to be connected with them on the platform first. If they don't appear in the search, send them a connection request and wait for them to accept before trying again. Alternatively, use the Business Manager route which works via email address and does not require an existing connection.
